Dr. Monterosso is a Co-Leader of the IAS Mechanisms and Treatment Development research group/committee alongside IAS Member, Dr. Daryl Davies. The goal of the research group is to bring together psychobiologists to bridge the gap between bench and bedside, and to facilitate the flow of scientific discovery to practical application. Dr. Monterosso is a mentor to IAS students and actively supports the Student Association of Addiction Science (SAAS).
He delves into the intricate workings of human self-control, exploring both its triumphs and pitfalls through the lens of behavioral economics and cognitive neuroscience. With over 100 co-authored journal articles and book chapters, his research zeroes in on addiction and obesity, generously backed by funding from the National Institutes of Health.
