Pilot Grant Program

IAS Internal Funding Program

IAS is invested in helping to alleviate the challenges associated with getting external funding for novel and innovative research. Some of our programs award internal pilot funds to investigators to collect preliminary data that can assist in the subsequent submission of larger externally funded research grants and contracts.

Pilot projects can address any aspect of addiction science with the requirement that they are transdisciplinary in nature (i.e., integrate theories, methods, or applications from 2 or more academic disciplines) and involve investigators from 2 or more different schools/colleges at USC. All areas of addiction science (cell to society) and all types of research – preclinical, clinical, population, social/behavioral, quantitative, qualitative, primary data collection, secondary analysis) are eligible; projects addressing health equity are highly encouraged.

Funding requests are in response to formal IAS Request for Applications (RFA) or are self-initiated by IAS faculty, trainees, or collaborating community organizations on a rolling basis.

Request for Applications (RFAs)

 Current Active RFAs

Submitting a proposal for funding is crucial as it provides the opportunity to secure necessary resources, enabling the successful implementation and advancement of innovative projects and initiatives.

  Previously Supported Projects

Completed funded projects demonstrate the effective use of resources, showcase tangible outcomes and successes, and build credibility for future funding opportunities and collaborations.

  Archived RFAs

Benefiting from archived requests for applications allows organizations to gain valuable insights into funding trends, application requirements, and successful proposal strategies, enhancing their chances of securing future funding.

To request more information on how to submit a proposal for funding, please contact Vickie Williams at Victoria.williams.0@usc.edu.
